Welcome to GoStrengths!
GoStrengths is one of the programs on the GoZen website. This website takes research based concepts that support resilience and well-being in youth and teaches it in a fun format that is easy for kids to understand and apply. It is brain-based, teaches emotional intelligence, and compliments what the kids have been learning in Life Skills class with Mrs. Wilson since Kindergarten! If you want to check it out yourself you can click on this link: www.gozen.com. While Howard-Suamico elementary schools have a paid subscription, there are a lot of video clips and free resources that you can use at home! The entire third grade class will be working with the GoStrengths program this school year, but I will also be pulling in components from their other programs (GoZen and GoToTheNow in classes and while I work with individuals and small groups throughout the year). I am sure the kids will love it!

Well-being - a state of being happy, healthy, and prosperous
Depression - when negative feelings and thoughts last much longer than a typical sad response and limit a child's ability to function normally; when kids are sad, discouraged, hopeless, irritable, or feel worthless for weeks, months, or even longer.
Stress and Anxiety - Stress is an extreme worry or uncomfortable feeling about a problem in your life. Anxiety is fears or worries about something that might happen.
Resilience - Recover from a negative event or adjust to a change in circumstance
Optimism - to be able to see or expect the best outcome
