A.N.T.S. (Automatic Negative thoughts!)
Today in Life Skills Class with Mrs. Wilson, we learned about thinking and about ANTs or Automatic Negative Thoughts. We learned about five different types of ANTs. We reflected on which ones tend to happen to us and how they make us feel. We also learned that thoughts are very powerful and that they aren’t always true! We also discussed strategies to challenge our negative thinking and talked about how to eliminate ANTs.

To find out, try this simple exercise:
Close your eyes and imagine the last time you really cried. What made you so sad? Visualize where you were and who you were with. Open your eyes. How do you feel?
Now, close your eyes and imagine the last time you laughed uncontrollably! What happened? Who were you with? Replay the whole scenario in your head.
When we do this with students in class, they are often quiet and serious after the first visualization. After the second, I usually have a hard time getting them back on track! Their eyes are lit up, they are laughing, and they all want to share!!
This shows us the power that one thought can have over our entire body!
