RECESS QUEEN (Or king!) *lesson one*
We talked about royalty today! In books and movies the good, well-respected kings and queens are fair, honest, kind, care about others, share, and help whenever they can. We read a book The Recess Queen, in which the main character calls herself a queen because she has unlimited control and can do whatever she wants. We decided that is NOT a true queen. However, her behavior at the END of the book was much more "queen-like" (she included others, shared, and treated people kindly). We think we can act like a king or a queen in ANY environment we are in! Help your child identify what "king or queen-like behavior" you expect at home. Most homes require their little kings and queens to be honest, do their jobs, and be respectful towards family members and pets.

RECESS QUEEN (OR KING!) *LESSON two*
In the second lesson we followed up by making our very own queen or king crown (if we are going to ACT like a king or a queen, we should look the part, right?!). This crown shows your child's commitment to acting like a queen or king at school, home, and in the community. This means she/he will be kind and caring, helpful, fair, honest, responsible, and respectful to people and property. Your child SHOULD have come home with a crown this week. Could they tell you WHY they got to make it?
